Resonance Energy Transfer from Monolayer WS2 to Organic Dye Molecules: Conversion of Faint Visible‐Red into Bright Near‐Infrared Luminescence

نویسندگان

چکیده

The synergetic combination of transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDCs) with organic dye molecules in functional heterostructures is promising for various optoelectronic applications. Here resonance energy transfer (RET) from a red-emitting WS2 monolayer (1L-WS2) to layer near-infrared (NIR) emitting demonstrated. It found that the total photoluminescence (PL) yield up factor eight higher as compared PL pristine 1L-WS2. This attributed efficient conversion mostly non-radiative excitons 1L-WS2 into radiative layer. A type-I level alignment 1L-WS2/dye interface assures emission bright PL. From excitation density-dependent experiments, it concluded RET prevails against defect-assisted recombination well Auger-type exciton-exciton annihilation work paves way employing TMDCs nanoscale light-emitting devices improved efficiency and tunable color.

Resonance energy transfer from organic chromophores to fullerene molecules

The mechanism of charge separation in polymeric bulk heterojunction photovoltaic cells is usually described as electron transfer from the absorbing polymer to an electron acceptor material such as 6,6 -phenyl C61 butyric acid methyl ester PCBM . We consider the possibility of energy transfer to PCBM as another potential mechanism for charge separation. We demonstrate resonance energy transfer f...

Luminescence resonance energy transfer measurements in myosin.

Myosin is thought to generate force by a rotation between the relative orientations of two domains. Direct measurements of distances between the domains could potentially confirm and quantify these conformational changes, but efforts have been hampered by the large distances involved. Here we show that luminescence resonance energy transfer (LRET), which uses a luminescent lanthanide as the ene...

Carrier multiplication in semiconductor nanocrystals detected by energy transfer to organic dye molecules

Carrier multiplication describes an interesting optical phenomenon in semiconductors whereby more than one electron-hole pair, or exciton, can be simultaneously generated upon absorption of a single high-energy photon. So far, it has been highly debated whether the carrier multiplication efficiency is enhanced in semiconductor nanocrystals as compared with their bulk counterpart. The controvers...

Energy transfer from a dye donor to enhance the luminescence of silicon quantum dots.

Quantum dots are known for their superior optical properties; however, when transferred into aqueous media, their luminescent properties are frequently compromised. When encapsulated in micelles for bioimaging applications, luminescent silicon quantum dots can lose as much as 50% of their luminescence depending on the formulation used. Here, we create an energy transfer micelle platform that co...
